Japanese Textiles weekend – Katazome resist print and indigo dye workshop
In collaboration with Hiroko Aeno-Billson – a weekend of textile workshops, inspiring stories and wonderful Japanese food. You will leave with a hand-stitched double sided “furoshiki” wrapping cloth and a selection of indigo dyed samples for future stitch projects.
Saturday 19 August – ‘Katazome’ and indigo dye workshops with Aviva
Inspired by this ancient Japanese technique, create your own stencil to use to print resist paste onto cotton cloth. Enjoy a delicious ‘Bento’ lunch made by Hiroko then spend the afternoon dyeing your cloths in a natural indigo vat to achieve deep blue shades. The cloths will then be washed and dried, ready for you to use in the stitch workshop on the Sunday
Each workshop is stand alone and costs £85. This includes all materials, refreshments and lunch.
